Female Industry in the Use of the Needle
This handkerchief depicts a group of four women, seated outside a cottage, all of whom are sewing. Above and below the image are quotations which encourage women to occupy their time in sewing, as a suitable and moral pastime. It was probably given to a girl or young woman as a gift.
