L'Annamite
L'Annamite was a French ship, built in 1876 at Cherbourg. 'Annamite' is a now-outdated term for a person of Vietnamese origin, derived from Annam, the name used by 19th century Europeans to refer to Vietnam. Handkerchiefs printed with images of new ships were popular patriotic souvenirs.
