Boot, theatrical boot
Boots of knee-high black leather with wide cuff of brown leather, black leather soles and a stacked Cuban heel in an early 19th century style. Cream cotton twill tapes are sewn onto the inside of each boot. No designer or manufacturing marks or labels.
These boots were a bequest by the actor and theatrical producer Sir John Martin-Harvey (1963-1944) and were worn by him in the play ‘The Only Way’. This play was first produced at the Lyceum theatre, London, in 1899 and repeatedly performed by Martin-Harvey throughout his career.
