Cap, organisational uniform cap

Corps of Commissionaires uniform cap of black wool constructed in the round, pillbox manner, with a shallow squared-off black patent peak at the front, underside of peak lined in green leather. Top of the crown decorated with circles of gold coloured metal braid and a gold button at the centre. At the front of the cap is the Corps of Commissionnaires emblematic badge comprising of two crossed metal swords and a wreath surmounted by a crown. White leather inner band / sweat band, with paper label adhered to the band completed by hand in black ink with 'Somerville' (?). Crown lined in quilted red silk with red woven label, lettering stamped in gilt 'Pipe & McGill / Military & Naval / Cap Helmet & Accoutrement / Manufacturers / 27 Maiden Lane / Strand W.C .'
