A copper alloy statuette of the Graeco-Roman hero Hercules. A youthful and beardless representation; standing, with his right arm bent at the elbow and upraised, the club is missing from his hand. A lion skin is draped over his left arm, with the mask and front paws marked on back. The left hand appears to have once held an object, possibly a staff, although this is now missing. The hero Hercules was widely worshipped as a god and was especially popular with the army for his famous strength.
