The lower part of a tin cylindrical canister with a shoulder to take a lid (missing). The surface is decorated with three groups of horizontal grooves on rebate; three closely set groups on external surface near base; single groove half way down body.
Metal composition: (BM Lab 1982) lead 2.4%; tin 96.8%. Lead from Derbyshire or Somerset was alloyed with tin from Cornwall to produce a lead/tin alloy similar to pewter.
