The lower part of a tin cylindrical canister. Decorated with a small ridge 17 mm below the rim, which is probably a seating for a lid. The base has a circular groove and turning mark. Decorated with two horizontal grooves on external surface near base; surface polished.
Metal composition: (BM lab 1982) lead 0.12%; tin 99%. Lead from Derbyshire or Somerset was alloyed with tin from Cornwall to produce a lead/tin alloy similar to pewter.
