Dress
Green cotton dress green printed with flowered stripe, possibly Indian inspired. Full sleeves, off the shoulder. Bodice with sloping pleats into broad waistband. Metal hooks and eyes at the back for fastening.
Catalogue note by Natalie Rothstein. Cotton with silk stripes in the warp imitating challis. The pattern is similar to many furnishings of the time - all imitating shawl designs. It has been block-printed in green leaving a jagged white stripe printed in red and brown. The pattern includes a typical shawl cone. A similar jerky pseudo-shawl motif appears in green on the green ground. Fabric width: 23.5 ins. Repeat height: 4.75 ins.; width 9.25 ins.
