Skirt, dress skirt
Cherry coloured striped silk dress formed of a separate bodice and skirt, trimmed with applied lace butterflies, white lace and velvet bows. The ensemble was made by Parisian dressmakers Kerteux Soeurs in the 9th arrondissement. Later, this maison became the couturiers Buzenet and moved to the rue de la Boétie in the much chicer 8th arrondissement.
A full skirt gathered behind back under two flat cherry and black velvet bows to form a slight train. An additional effect is gained in the skirt by reversing the material and thus altering the direction of the stripes. The broad linen waistband is stamped in gold: "Mmes Kerteux Soeurs/Paris/14 Rue Taitbout"
