Printed Ephemera — 1836-1845
St Patrick of Ireland
Equestrian portrait print with engraving representing St Patrick of Ireland on horseback. Part of a series of equestrian portraits published by A.Park. Such portraits of heroic, allegorical, mythical and historical figures would have been sold plain for colouring and tinselling at home. Saint Patrick used the three leaf clover to explain the Christian trinity, and the symbol of it is used in this portrait.
