Mr Gomersal as the Blood Red Knight
Theatrical souvenir sheet engraved with a portrait of the actor Mr Gomersal in the role of The Blood Red Knight. Such portraits were sold as theatrical souvenirs. The Blood Red Knight was performed at Astley's, an illegitimate theatre specialising in equestrian performances. The 1817 performance of The Blood Red Knight proved popular, and is recorded to have earned the Theatre £18,000.
