Children’s pottery class at the Whitechapel Art Gallery, January 1962. The Gallery was founded in 1901 to 'bring great art to the people of the East End of London'. In January 1962 the gallery held an exhibition of Barbara Hepworth’s sculpture and the children had visited the gallery for inspiration prior to working on their own pieces.
