Advertising fan with a satin leaf printed with photographs of contemporary celebrities, mainly from the theatre. Along bottom edge, and printed within the image are the words. 'Louis Felberman's celebrity fan / Patent no 14948 / manufactured by Norman & Stacey, Ltd. by Royal letters patent, Art Furnishers, 118 Queen Victoria Street, London / printed in photo mezzotype [*] by the London Stereoscopic Co. of 54 Cheapside, EC and 106 & 108 Regent Street [or Square?] W principally from their Copyright portraits of celebrities'.
Sticks and guards of bone with shallow carving of abstract motifs with a metal loop hinge.
Photomezzotype is a photo-mechanical printing process similar to collotype (OED).
