Purse
A metal purse with watered-silk ribbon decoration, from the Paris Exhibition of 1867. Brass curved framework edge. Four divisions inside. Press lever to open on top. Bottom half of purse has metal overlay with relief work containing emblems of shield, eagle and a ship and the inscription: "PARIS EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE 1867" - "Paris Universal Exhibition, 1867". Material of broad purple and green moiré silk stripe on unbleached linen coloured gorund. Red (scarlet) waxed paper, purple on underside. Remnants of red silk cord handle.
