Mortar, marble mortar
Fragment from the side and base of a mortar made from coarse-grained marble with bluish grey veining, probably from the Ephesus region (near present-day Selçuk, Izmir Province, Turkey). The presence of this fragment in a stratifed context shows that marble was imported from the eastern Mediterranean in the 1st century.
