Animal remains, animal bone, musical instrument, tuning peg
Fragment of a bone tuning peg. The upper terminal is triangular in section, with a deep lathe-turning mark at the end. There is a marked shoulder between the terminal and shaft, which is broken well above the mid point.
The peg is considerably smaller than the other example from London (LYD88<88> - Canon Street, EC4) and is likely to have come from a smaller instrument. This was probably a kithara, a member of the lyre family.
