Spray, fruit spray
The press praised the taste, novelty and natural colours of the dress trimmings exhibited by C. & T. Danby. Three examples were included in The Illustrated Exhibitor (1851), which encouraged its women readers to purchase the trimmings, rather than make their own at home. Social welfare was linked to commercial interest, as readers were told that buying trimmings would provide work for 'the poor of their own sex'.
