Parasol
Folding parasol. Cover of brown silk woven with flowers in urns linked with floral swags in chocolate brown and off-white (cream) cut and uncut velvet; edged top and bottom with brown and off-white (cream) silk twist fringe. Lined with white silk. Ivory ferrule, ivory tipped whalebone ribs. Wooden shaft hinged to hooked ivory handle and held rigid with a moveable broad metal ring. Small piece of metal sewn to cover, probably originally part of apparatus to hold parasol shut. Metal ring marked: "Lewis & Allenby". Condition: cover somewhat mildewed; lining stained and tearing.
