Fashion — 1880-1885
Corset
Black cotton, long line corset with opening at the centre front. The twelve eyelets either side of the two centre front whalebone busks are used for lacings. There are four steel or metal rods at centre back. The shoulder straps are attached at the back and the front.
The corset is strongly boned throughout and is thought to have been an orthopeadic corset. It is lined with thick grey cotton. Machine stitched. Possibly made abroad.
