Parasol
Parasol of black silk satin covered with black machine-made lace that hangs over the edges in a scalloped pattern. Straight wooden shaft with an ornately carved crooked handle. Straight wooden ferrule with metal tip. Metal framework with a brass slide that is incised with a label that reads: 'HOLLANDS, BIRMm'.
Henry Holland was a tool maker who was responsible for numerous advancements in the design of parasol and umbrella frames in the mid-19th century.
