Coin, dupondius
A copper alloy dupondius coin of Emperor Vespasian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 69-79. The back of the coin depicts Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. This coin was possibly minted in AD 71.
Obv: Radiate head of Vespasian, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG COS III. Rev: Victory, standing left on the prow of a ship, holding a wreath in her raised right hand and carrying a palm over her left shoulder. Rev inscription: VICTORIA NAVALIS, SC in field.
