Printed Ephemera — 1901-1914
Postcard, picture postcard
Picture postcard showing an image of the 'Little Folks Ward' at the North-Eastern Hospital for Children, Hackney Road, Bethnal Green. The postcard was issued to raise funds for the hospital. Below the title is written 'funds urgently required. 114 beds in the hospital always full.' The children's hospital was founded during a cholera epidemic in 1866 by two sisters. In 1911 a branch of the hospital opened in Bexhill-on-Sea. Here ill children could recover in the sea air away from the polluted capital.
