A24099-A24108 are specimens of unusually good work done by shoemakers c. 1845(?)-1870 and exhibited at the Crispin Beer House, kept by Richard Tubble; this was the occasion and cause of much consumption of beer by the craftsman, who was treated by admiring visitors. Many of the shoes were made as samples of work by outworkers in order to obtain work from manufacturers.
