Panorama: London in 1842 - South View, 1842. "This Picture of the Metropolis of the British Empire" looks south across St James's Park to Westminster (the new Parliament buildings not yet visible) and stretching to Buckingham Palace on the right and St Paul's and the city on the left. This panorama was based on a series of daguerrotypes made by Antoine Claudet.
