Panorama: London in 1842 - north view, taken from the summit of the Duke of York column. The view shows Waterloo Place and Lower Regent Street in the centre and stretches on the right to St Martin in the Fields and the growing stump of Nelson's column and on the left to Apsley House and Hyde Park. This panorama was based on a series of daguerrotypes made by Antoine Claudet.
