Vest
Cotton vest and briefs, 2004. Designed by Orla Kiely
A matching underwear set made from cream cotton jersey printed with diagonal rows of stylised trees. The pattern incorporates two rows of solid circles standing on vertical columns of the same colour. One set is of pale aqua and red and the second set is of deep coral and a plummy brown.
Orla Kiely is an Irish designer based in London. She is a graduate of the Royal College of Art. She launched her label in 1993 selling accessories but has since diversified into knitwear, clothing and homewares. She is influenced by the graphic design and colours of the 1960s and 1970s and by Scandinavian design.
This set was purchased from Fenwick's in New Bond street. Kiely now has two stand alone stores in Covent Garden and the King's Road.
