Shoe, sandal
Patrick Cox designed these fuchsia pink metallic leather sandals called 'Laminato' for spring/summer 2004.
Cox was born in Edmonton in Alberta, Canada, and moved to England in 1983 to study shoemaking at London's Cordwainers' College. He worked for Vivienne Westwood when he was still a student in 1984 and set up his own business the following year.
Cox opened his first shop in London in 1991. He has an international reputation and has continued to work with the world's leading fashion designers while producing his own collections. He is perhaps best known for his hugely successful Wannabe loafer that generated queues of customers outside his shop in the early 1990s.
The leather sandals have square shaped inner soles at the toes with a narrow band of metallic leather going across the toes. From the sides across the instep is another narrow band of pink metallic leather. Attached to the outer side of each band is a leather flower consisting of five large cut out petals, the upper part being covered with tiny reflective squares. Emerging from the centre of these petals is a shower of fine lengths of silver metal fringe, the longest being 7 cm. The heels are covered in shiny metallic leather of the same fuchsia pink.
