Trousers
Ensemble of woman's jacket, top and trousers designed by Preen, 2004.
A pair of flat front straight legged trousers. The trousers are fly-fronted hipsters with a flat waistband. The two front legs are made from one panel. The back of each leg has two panels, the small upper part joins the bottom panel with a diagonal seam with a pointed, shaped flap on each seam. The seams, flaps and waistband are topstitched.
Preen is the label of Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi. It was established in 1996 after the designers worked together for Helen Storey. Working initially out of a small boutique and atelier in Portobello road, the business grew with acclaim for their 'anti-fit elegance' achieved through innovative cutting and an experimental approach to details and drape. Their urban colour palette also marks out Preen's modernist aesthetic. Preen debuted at London Fashion Week in 2001 and was nominated for Designer of the year in 2006.
The outfit was bought at Concrete boutique in Soho, now shut, owned by a public relations company of the same name.
