Cotton and elastane t-shirt, 2004. Designed by Michiko Koshino
Michiko Koshino is a Japanese London based designer. She began designing in the 1970s and opened her first London store in 1984. Her Motorking club-wear label had a huge following in the club scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Koshino is known for her experimental work, often fusing modern techno fabrics with more traditional materials, and for her use of experimental cutting techniques.
This top is from her Yen denim label, which she refers to as 'retaining its original oriental concept but with a modern twist'. The black t-shirt has been cut and knotted to create an intricate fabric pattern along the shoulders and the lower part of the torso.
