This baseball cap was designed by Luella Bartley for New Look in 2003.
Luella Bartley began her carrer as fashion journalist after attending Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She launched her 'Luella' label in 1999 and was named 'Designer of the Year' by the British Fashion Council in 2008. After a difficult 2009 during which Bartley lost her backer, she was awarded with an MBE in April 2010.
The idea of collaborations between fashion designers and high-street brands was popularised by the French company La Redoute in the early 1990s. In 1993 the 'Designers at Debenhams' rangewas launched, which is still going strong in 2010. Topshop regularly collaborates with designers and celebrities such as Kate Moss.
Since 2004 the London fashion designer Giles Deacon has been working with New Look, launching his 10th collection for the high street chain: 'Gold by Giles Deacon' in 2010. In 2007 the singer Lily Allen designed a capsule collection for the brand.
