Bottle, wine bottle

The Jewish Company in Palestine produced this bottle of Muscat kosher wine. It was marketed and sold in the UK by M.Chaikin & Co who owned a kosher distillery on the corner of Brick Lane and Fournier Street and an off-licence at 72-4 Brick Lane. Chaikin's UK trademark was Bozwin, as seen on the label, which stood for Beauty of Zion Wine. The label also notes that, in 1933 a Diploma of Merit was awarded to M Chaikin & Co for its display at the Anglo-Palestine Exhibition held in London. This family firm supplied London's East End Jewish community with kosher wines and spirits for nearly 80 years until the business closed in 1976.
