Camberwell Housing Scheme, Money builds, how all may help-buy London Housing Bonds
Following the Housing Act of 1919, the London County Council (L.C.C.) introduced housing bonds. The public were encouraged to buy the bonds to raise money for the building of new public housing.
To promote the scheme, the L.C.C. launched a publicity campaign. It wanted to show the benefits of its housing plans and those of other metropolitan boroughs. Londoners raised just under four million pounds by buying the bonds.
The poster was produced by Benson's London advertising agency. The image, by the artist E B Lamb, shows the proposed site of a housing development near Casino Avenue, Camberwell.
