Ring, finger ring, mourning ring
Gold mourning ring. The hoop is decorated in black enamel to represent a skull and acanthus foliage. Inscribed inside is 'J.C. Obt. Apr. 5 1724 AEtat 67' with the maker's mark 'P.D.' This type of ring commemorated the death of an individual and was worn in memory of them.
