Printed Ephemera — 1951
The country Pavilion, South Bank exhibition
Photographic postcard showing an interior view of the Country Pavilion on the South Bank for the Festival of Britain, 1951. The tractors went up and down on hydraulic lifts. The pavilion was designed by F.H.K. Henrion, and included displays about agriculture and the natural scene. There were live animals including bulls, cows, sheep, goats, chickens and ducks. Shire horses were transported daily to the exhibition and taken for exercise in Hyde Park.
