The Lost child
Sheet music for the comic song 'The Lost Child' popularised by the music hall performer Sam Cowell . The cover is printed with a colour illustration of a ragged woman beating a child with a stick together with smaller black and white illustrations of further characters from the song.
Sam Cowell was a popular music hall performer both in London and the USA. He died in 1864 aged just 44.
