Coin, dupondius
A copper alloy dupondius of Emperor Hadrian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 117-138. The back of the coin depicts Virtus, the personification of courage and bravery . This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 119-121.
Obv: Draped, radiate bust of Hadrian, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CAESAR TRAIANVS HADRIANVS AVG PM TR P. Rev: Virtus, standing right, holding a parazonium (dagger) in his left hand and a vertical spear in the right . Rev inscription: VIRTVTI AVGVSTI, SC in field
