Card, valentine card

Comic valentine's card printed with a coloured woodcut depicting a coal- heaver wearing his distinctive 'fan-tail' hat and holding a mug of beer. Below is printed printed a verse, satirising the occupation of the coal-heaver: 'Thy face begrimed and black as soot, No lady fair, will ever suit; No Beau art thou for lovers levee, Thy mind is Bent on Pots of Heavy; No Fan to thee is known, thou Flat, Except thy ugly Fan Tailed Hat! Thy spooney Face appears, good lack, As if indeed you'd got the Sack; If hauled you o'er the Coals--in fine Who'd have you for a Valentine?'
