Card, valentine card
Multi-layered, handfinished valentine's card comprising two sheets of lace paper by Meek attached one above the other by paper springs and embossed with an identical design incorporating flowers, angels carrying garlands and a reclining female figure at the bottom. The top sheet is part gilded, the undersheet plain white. The sheets have an enclosed, plain central top panel. Above the panel of the top sheet is applied an arrangement of fabric flowers and leaves surrounded by a wreath of pressed cream satin flowers. The central area of the lower half of the card is open revealing an image, handpainted on the inner or back sheet of a bridge over a river with hills in the background.
