Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval-Tudor; 1466-1535
Crucifix
Pipeclay crucifix with traces of gilding and black pigment on the surface. The arms and base of the cross are missing, and the shaft is broken in two pieces. The bearded figure of Christ on the cross is naked except for a loin cloth. Similar to saint figures from Cologne. Medieval Londoners kept figurines of saints in their homes.
