Garrick's Villa at Hampton
Garrick's Villa at Hampton, Middlesex. This temple is in the grounds of the house beside the river Thames (seen here with swans and pleasure craft) and was David Garrick's home from 1754 till his death in 1779. Thereafter Eva, his widow, lived here as a recluse until her death in 1822, when it was acquried by her solicitor Thomas Carr. It has now been converted into apartments and the grounds have been developed. See also 80.501/897 for a work with similar content.
