The Population of the British Empire according to the last census - Admiral the Hon'ble Sir Rob't Stopford - with the admiral at the centre of a circular sectioned diagram giving the population of countries, counties (apparently from the 1841 census) and 'upwards of 103 millions in India and other Foreign Possessions'. Sir Robert Stopford Bt, 1768-1847 had a distinguished naval career and ended his life as governor of the Greenwich Hospital with the rank of Admiral.
