Tinsel print

Theatrical souvenir sheet engraved with four character plates showing portraits of the actors Mr Collins as Paul Clifford, Mr Balls as Claude du Val, Mr Hicks as Mazeppa and Mr Gomersal as Gilderoy. Applied to the portraits is clothing of shaded silk embellished with metal foil tinsel ornaments. The clothing accessories and weapons are also decorated with metal foil. The portraits with some handcoloured background scenery have been cut from two paper sheets and mounted onto card. Such portraits would have been sold for 1d plain as theatrical souvenirs for colouring and tinselling at home.
