Sanitas, the best disinfectant
Glass disinfectant bottle without stopper. Embossed just below the long neck with the trade name 'Sanitas the best disinfectant'. The bottle would have held a high concentration quantity of disinfectant that would be diluted with water. Dirt, germs and bugs thrived in unsanitary and overcrowded slums. By the late 1890s, several local authorities were giving out free disinfectant and establishing stations where contaminated clothing, bed linen and carpets could be treated.
