Card, valentine card
Valentine's card comprising a solid embossed border surrounding a central panel decorated with a hand-coloured lithograph showing two couples approaching a village church. The door of the church comprises a square shaped paper flap that opens to reveal a miniature image of a wedding ceremony within. Below the illustration is printed a two verse love poem. Such mechanical valentine's were introduced in c.1840.
