The ginger beer man
An illustration of a ginger beer seller from 'London: a Pilgrimage' by Blanchard Jerrold and Gustave Doré, 1872. Jerrold notes that ginger beer sellers were under threat from the growing popularity of penny ice sellers and therefore needed to "move with the times". The seller illustrated was observed working in New Cut, offering iced ginger beer to his customers.
