Card, valentine card

Handfinished valentine's card, the front formed from two layers of lace paper attached by folded paper 'springs' to give a 3d effect. The under layer is by Meek and has a plain white rectangular shaped panel with lace paper border. Applied to the centre is an embossed white paper image of two lovers embracing surrounded by an applied wreath of coloured paper leaves and flowers, some of which are embossed. The top layer is of silver and white lace paper with an embossed flower design. Each of the four corners has a 'flower cage', 'cobweb' or 'beehive' decoration comprising a roundel of lace paper cut in a spiral with a central thread. As the thread is pulled the paper lifts to produce a cobweb or beehive effect. Below are revealed four applied coloured paper prints, two illustrating couples, one a young girl and one a young man. The central panel of this sheet is open revealing the decoration on the layer below.
