Printed Ephemera — 1810-1838
Card, valentine card
Handfinished Valentine's card with cream lace paper border embossed with flower and vase design and central rectangular shaped panel, the top part of which has been cut away. Applied to the panel a cut out paper kettle with paper steam clouds bearing messages such as 'Is there a heart that never loved' and 'Don't be too particular'. Beside the kettle is a small paper scrap with pink and gilded border marked 'Mind it boils'. Below the kettle are two messages handwritten directly onto the panel: 'I should suit you to a T' and 'Tell me when and tell me where'. Part of the applied decoration appears to be missing.
