Social History — 1840 - 1870
Clip, skirt clip
Skirt clip dating from the mid Victorian period. It is of steel, and in the form of a pair of pincers. A steel fitting moulded in the form of a vase of flowers facilitates the opening and closing of the clip by sliding down the shaft of the handles. A suspension loop is attached to this fitting, to which is attached a thick piece of white cord which is knotted to form a loop.
