Printed Ephemera — 1866
Playbill
Playbill for the New Surrey Theatre, for the week of the 23rd April, 1866. The theatre had re-opened at the end of December 1865 following a devastating fire. The new theatre had four tiers of audience, and seated over two thousand people. The Surrey continued to stage melodramas in the rebuilt theatre. This playbill advertises a historical melodrama, about the life of Theodora, a Byzantine Empress.
