Printed Ephemera — 1828-1840
Mr Pearman as Rodolph in Der Freischutz
Uncoloured theatrical souvenir sheet engraved with a portrait of the actor Mr Pearman in the role of Rodolph from the opera Der Freischutz. Such sheets would have been sold plain as theatrical souvenirs for colouring and tinselling at home.
Der Freischutz is a romantic opera based on German folk tales. It opened in Berlin in 1821 and was soon performed around Europe.
